Arctic Coastal Change

The coastal Arctic, one of the most critical areas on Earth for energy resources, transportation, subsistence, security, biodiversity and cultural heritage, is rapidly transforming. Accelerating changes - in coastal marine and land resources, river flows, water quality, coastal erosion, and infrastructure - are of key concern to local communities, industrial development, and economic prosperity in the region.
Combining observations from airplanes, helicopters, boats, and drones, NASA's Earth Venture Suborbital mission FORTE will measure the dynamic and rapidly transforming ecosystem of the coastal Alaskan Arctic and how environmental change is impacting this region and beyond.
