In August 2024, the FORTE team conducted field operations
across Alaska's North Slope, capturing stunning aerial and
ground-based imagery of the region's unique Arctic landscapes.
From the Colville River near Nuiqsut to the expansive river
systems and coastal areas, these images document the critical
ecosystems being studied by the FORTE mission.
The collection includes views from NASA's ABOVE flight
operations, showcasing the team's collaborative research
efforts, as well as dramatic landscapes from the Gates of the
Arctic, eroding coastlines, and the intricate network of lakes
and rivers that characterize this remote and rapidly changing
environment.
