RESERVATIONS

Please make reservations as soon as possible!

A block of rooms has been reserved at the University of Maryland Inn and Conference Center at the government per diem rate of $150 single/double plus 5% tax per night. The group rate is available through Friday, August 11, 2006 or until the reservation block is full. If you do not make your reservations by August 11, you will not be guaranteed the group rate and will be offered the best available rate on a space-available basis. Rates for attendees who fail to make their reservation within the group reservation block cannot be changed at check-in or check-out.

Check in time is 3:00 p.m. and Check out time is 12:00 p.m. A major credit card must be used to guarantee your reservation. To cancel a reservation, you must contact the hotel directly by 6:00 pm Eastern Time.

To Make Reservations:

BY PHONE: Reservations for your room can be made by contacting the UMUC Inn and Conference Center by Marriott at 301-985-7300 or 1-800-676-6137 and ask to speak with Reservations. When connected, please notify the reservation agent that you are part of the Joint Science Workshop, your arrival date, how many nights you intend to stay, and your preferred room type (ex. one queen bed, or if you plan to share your room, two queen beds). This will help to ensure prompt and accurate assistance.

Note that if you intend to arrive prior to August 20, 2006, or stay beyond the night of August 25, 2006, you will be asked to reserve a room outside of the JSM room block for those nights only and will be offered the group rate for August 20 through 25, 2006.

PARKING

Overnight guests and daily attendees will have their parking covered by the conference contract. When you enter the parking garage, you will get a blue ticket. Upon leaving the parking garage, give your blue ticket to the attendant and either show them your conference badge or tell them that you were attending the "Joint Science Meeting". If you are an overnight guest, be sure to tell the front desk you are attending the Workshop and you will not be charged.

MEALS

Continental Breakfast, Mid-Morning Coffee, Lunch and Afternoon Break will be available each day.

POSTERS

Posters will be displayed in Conference Center's Concourse area on the main level throughout the meeting. Poster size is restricted to 48 by 48 inches. Push pins will be provided; poster authors must provide all other materials. Refer to presentation guidelines for additional details.

AIRPORTS

There are three major area airports:

DIRECTIONS TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND INN AND CONFERENCE CENTER

Maps and Transportation

Baltimore-Washington Intl - BWI (Conference Center Direction: 25 mi S or about 35 minutes without traffic)

  • •  195 South to 95 South to exit 25.
  • •  Take Route 1 South to 193 West to 3rd light (Adelphi Rd).
  • •  Make U turn and make your next right into the Inn and Conference Center.
  • •  Go to the bottom of the ramp to the Guest Entrance of the parking garage and get a parking ticket.

Washington, DC/National/ Reagan Airport - DCA (Conference Center Direction: 16 mi E and about 29 minutes without traffic)

  • •  Take GW Parkway to I495 towards Baltimore.
  • •  Stay on 495 East to New Hampshire Ave South.
  • •  Turn left at the 2nd light (Adelphi Road). Go 3 miles and turn left on University Boulevard.
  • •  Make your next right into the Inn and Conference Center.
  • •  Go to the bottom of the ramp to the Guest Entrance of the parking garage and get a parking ticket.

Washington, DC/Dulles - IAD (Conference Centerl Direction: 35-45 mi E or 46 minutes without traffic)

  • •  Merge onto va-267 East toward I-495 / Exit 18-19 / VA-123 / Baltimore / Richmond (portions toll).
  • •  Merge onto I-495 North / Capital Beltway via exit 18 toward Baltimore (crossing into Maryland).
  • •  Turn left at the 2nd light (Adelphi Road). Go 3 miles and turn left on University Boulevard.
  • •  Make your next right into the Inn and Conference Center.
  • •  Go to the bottom of the ramp to the Guest Entrance of the parking garage and get a parking ticket.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION FROM THE AIRPORTS:

FROM NATIONAL AIRPORT:

  • Super Shuttle: Super Shuttle provides service from Dulles to the Greenbelt / College Park area. For information, call 1-800-258-3826. They operate 24 hours per day.
  • Blue Top Cab (affiliate of Washington Flyer Taxi: It is very important not to call them until you have retrieved your baggage because you must provide the dispatcher with the door number of the baggage claim area where you will be standing. Their phone number is 703-578-1111.
  • Taxi Cabs: Washington, D.C., Virginia and Maryland taxicabs are available at the exits of each terminal. Dispatchers are available at the exits to assist passengers.

FROM DULLES AIRPORT:

  • Super Shuttle: Super Shuttle provides service from Dulles to the Greenbelt / College Park area. For information, call 1-800-258-3826. They operate 24 hours per day.
  • Washington Flyer Taxi: A dvance reservations are required. For more information or to arrange your trip, call 703-528-4440 or 703- 661-8230.

FROM BWI AIRPORT:

  • Super Shuttle: Super Shuttle provides service from Dulles to the Greenbelt / College Park area. For information, call 1-800-258-3826. They operate 24 hours per day.
  • Airport Taxi: Taxi service from BWI to any destination is available on the lower level near each exit. Please note that this service is available from BWI only. For information, call (410) 859-1100.
