Our research on the ecology, hydrology and biogeochemistry of Amazon wetlands integrates multi-temporal, multi-scale analyses of inundation and aquatic vegetation dynamics with measurements and modeling of carbon dynamics of wetland systems. Recent results include: 1) Development of a model of aquatic macrophyte growth and simulation of growth for a 40 year period as a function of variations in inundation. 2) Development of a methane evasion model for floodplain environments. 3) Application of a hydraulic model of inundation dynamics to a large floodplain unit. 4) Analyses of climate change influences on Amazon floodplains.
