PolInSAR Methods for Ecosystem Science
---------------------------------------------------------
Abstract
New synthetic aperture radar (SAR) techniques combining the structural information in polarimetry and the geodetic information in interferometry show promise for addressing scientific problems in ecosystems science, including biomass and vegetation structure estimation. With an increasing number of international SAR missions providing ever more diverse polarimetric and interferometric measurements, these methods may soon be applied to a variety of global PolInSAR data sets. This workshop is designed to introduce ecologists to PolInSAR methods and illustrate how they are currently being applied, with a look to the future possibilities for space-based observations in support of this community.
