We present a novel algorithm to extract representative crop rotations from time-series of cropland data layer, and illustrate its accuracy across varying temporal and spatial scales. The crop rotation product is then used as input to a popular terrestrial ecosystem model (EPIC) to predict biomass yield, C sequestration, N leaching and other environmental impacts of different crop production systems.
