We have been testing the feasibility of using profiling floats to obtain radiometric data of sufficient quality for calibration and validation of ocean color remote sensing. The float collects data in both profiling and buoy modes. Inherent optical properties are also collected to assess (through closure) the quality of the apparent optical properties.
