Recently, several studies have shown that fluorescence from chlorophyll in terrestrial vegetation can be measured from satellite. We have retrieved fluorescence using high-spectral-resolution measurements from a Fourier Transform Spectrometer (FTS) on the Japanese Greenhouse-gases Observations SATellite (GOSAT). Our approach makes use of the filling-in effect of a deep solar Fraunhofer (potassium) line near 770 nm. In this presentation, we show how our initial algorithm can be improved to account for subtle instrumental effects. We also expand upon our initial comparisons of fluorescence from GOSAT with other satellite-derived vegetation parameters including the Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) from the NASA Aqua MODIS instrument.
