MODIS Land Reprocessing

Robert E Wolfe, NASA GSFC, robert.e.wolfe@nasa.gov (Presenting)

The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instruments are aboard the NASA's polar orbiting Terra and Aqua Earth Observing System (EOS) satellites. Since launch, MODIS/Terra has acquired over 8 years of earth observation data and MODIS/Aqua over 5.5 years of data. MODIS Land Science products are high quality measurements of geophysical parameters that have been specially tailored to the land research community needs. The MODIS science team has continually improved their algorithms over time and will soon complete their third major reprocessing, called MODIS Land Collection Version 5. A summary of the improvements to the algorithms will be presented as well as some of the factors involved in reliably producing and archiving high quality land science products. Also included is a description of the initial plans for a follow-on Collection 6 reprocessing activity.
