Abstract:
My objectives as a member of the CMS Science Definition Team are to support the flux pilot project by: * Providing expertise about the remote sensing ACOS and TES X CO2 datasets * Delivering guidance for the overall development plan, evaluation plan, and dataset definition based on my experience in flight projects, * And supplying knowledge of carbon cycle science. The CMS projects require a broad set of expertise to be successful, and I can supply needed elements of that expertise. My proposed participation in the CMS SDT will directly support the NASA Earth Science Research Program goal of improving our understanding of the global carbon cycle and to quantify change in atmospheric CO2. By bringing my expertise in the ACOS and TES retrievals and expert knowledge of the datasets, I can assist with the exploitation of satellite remote sensing resources and end-to-end system expertise to assist the NASA Earth Science program in responding to the CMS directions. I have worked for a decade on large flight projects, and my experience on team and with the demands of developing work plans and goals to meet overall project objectives is directly applicable to the needs of CMS.
