The Terrestrial Ecology program funded this pre-ABoVE project to generate maps of the location and extent of surface water in the ABoVE study domain at 30m spatial resolution and decadal time step. These maps will allow consistent evaluation of the extent of surface water through time in ways that were not previously possible. A time series of Landsat surface reflectance data were processed through a decision tree algorithm to generate a single map for each of three epochs 1990, 2000, and 2010. The resulting maps can be used for determination of the location and amount of change in surface water extent during the study period. Here we will present the methodologies used and early results of the maps.
