• All program elements of the CC&E research and applications areas met together on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday through noon. These programs included Ocean Biology and Biogeochemistry, Terrestrial Ecology, Land Cover and Land Use Change, Biodiversity, Ecological Forecasting, Carbon Monitoring System, and Agriculture.
  
  Invited synthetic talks in plenary addressed four themes:
  
  
• Landscapes to coasts: understanding Earth system connections
• Tracking habitat change through new integrative approaches and products
• Future research direction and priorities: perspectives relevant to the Next Decadal Survey
• Human influence on global ecosystems

Poster sessions addressed these themes and general contributions. A breakout session encouraged input regarding future research directions and priorities.
